{"id":2277,"date":"2020-09-23T16:27:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-23T16:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/logoscambodia.org\/?p=2277"},"modified":"2020-09-28T07:37:02","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T07:37:02","slug":"wednesday-update-september-23-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/logoscambodia.org\/2020\/09\/23\/wednesday-update-september-23-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Update September 23, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Mark Your Calendars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>September 25 &#8211; Secondary Progress Reports<\/li><li>October 14 &#8211; PSAT Testing (Grades 10 &amp; 11)<\/li><li>October 14 &#8211; PSAT Testing (Grades 10 &amp; 11)<\/li><li>October 16- End of Quarter 1<\/li><li>October 1 &#8211; PreK3, PreK4, KG and 1st Grade Parents-Teacher online &#8220;Meet and Greet&#8221;<\/li><li>October 2 &#8211; Grade 2-5 Parents-Teacher online &#8220;Meet and Greet&#8221;\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please Return the New 2.1.5 Agreement by 8:00 am Friday<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every Logos student in Cambodia and plans to attend Logos in person any time this school year needs to complete our<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/u\/0\/d\/1am0L3nErsxeABlEBdmoGchzc-BEb8hnqvSGwQOd0UfY\/edit\"> New 2.1.5 Agreement Form<\/a> by 8:00 am on Friday.&nbsp; We need to submit all of the forms to the MoEYS on Friday.&nbsp; Logos needs the original copy with a parental signature.&nbsp; We cannot accept copies, photographs, or scanned documents.&nbsp; Failure to complete and submit this form may result in significant delays if students plan to return to campus at any point this school year. Forms were sent home with students last week or early this week. Extra forms are also available in the Logos Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PSAT\/NMSQT Testing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday, October 14, Logos will provide PSAT testing for all students in Grade 10 and any students in Grade 11 who wish to participate.\u00a0 We can only provide a physical copy of the test.\u00a0 We do not have any online options.\u00a0 All students taking the test should plan to be on campus at Logos the morning of October 14, even if it is a day that they are not regularly scheduled to attend. To learn more about the PSAT or to take a practice test, visit<a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/psat-nmsqt-psat-10\"> https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/psat-nmsqt-psat-10<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>MAP Testing for Grades 6-9 the week of October 5-9<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Logos secondary is committed to keeping our students on track with their academic progress. To measure student progress, we are still planning to offer our Fall MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Testing.&nbsp; We will start with Secondary students and will schedule Elementary students later in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Grade 6 students will take their tests in class on their school learning days, while Grades 7-9 will take their tests from school or home, depending on their scheduled day and time. All online-only students will be able to access their MAP Tests online at their scheduled times. Next week, students will receive emails with a schedule and<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1HRIb92YGtwu3r0Cv_OmYgwM5G-yYYVMToiO6AAPCBuM\/edit?usp=sharing\"> directions on how and when to access the tests.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At-home students will need access to a computer, laptop, or Chromebook, and an internet connection.\u00a0 We understand that power, internet issues, and time changes may impact some students. We will do our best to offer make-up testing for students that experience problems with testing.\u00a0<br>Please remember that students are not being graded on their MAP tests, but we do use the results to help us see our students\u2019 strengths and weaknesses.\u00a0 We design curriculums and offer learning support based on the results of these tests.\u00a0 It is important for students to do their best! However, it is not the end of the world if something goes wrong with their computers during the tests this year.<br>Please remind students that Logos expects students expected to practice integrity. Students caught cheating will face the consequences listed in our parent student handbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forms of cheating include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Asking a parent, family member, classmate, or friend for answers or help<\/li><li>Using the internet to look up answers<\/li><li>Chatting with other classmates via any chat messenger, phone call, or video during the test<\/li><li>Using any unfair means to obtain answers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a record of how students have performed on these tests in the past.\u00a0 If a student performs a lot higher or lower than expected, we may ask him or her to retake the tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New Student Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When Logos starts back to school on campus, we will have a new drop off and pick up procedures to fulfill the Ministry of Education\u2019s social distance requirements.&nbsp; When we have an official start date, we will send out an email with more details. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1UDNggUd58lOffiDQeM34UuuvW-R6iP04pEV8m8HIzRI\/edit?usp=sharing\">check out the new procedures<\/a>.&nbsp; Each family will need to<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/f8XhriA3ezoNK3BfA\"> sign-up for a morning drop off time slot<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Attendance and Absence Policy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With all of the changes due to COVID and the government requirements, we are temporarily waiving our required attendance policy.\u00a0 We do expect students to attend their classes online or in-person as necessary.\u00a0 If students cannot participate due to illness or travel, students or parents should notify their teachers. When we return to on-campus learning, parents should call or email the office to inform Logos if students will not be attending classes on campus on their scheduled days.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>School Lunch <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Logos is not allowed to provide school lunches for at least one month after reopening.&nbsp; Students will need to pack and bring lunches with them from home in the mornings. Students will not be allowed to buy or sell food on the campus or leave campus during the school day.&nbsp; Students will also not be allowed to order food or drinks to be delivered to campus.&nbsp; Parents, helpers, or drivers may not deliver food to school during the school day except for in the rare instance that students forget to bring their packed lunch in the morning. We are sorry for the inconvenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you travel outside of Phnom Penh<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every time a student travels outside of Phnom Penh or the student or the student\u2019s parents will need to complete the<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfmh9izHnWk97L0JlHmWqhOibyZkjLZj6oF7xpDNgVDavutVQ\/viewform\"> Student COVID questionnaire<\/a> 24 to 48 hours before returning to school.<br>You can find a link to the form at the top of the Logos School Website<a href=\"http:\/\/www.logoscambodia.org\"> www.logoscambodia.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Back to School Orientation for Secondary Students and Parents<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With all of the changes due to COVID, many of our policies and procedures have temporarily changed. The Nurse is responsible for the Student Online COVID-19 Questionnaire. If you have not already done so, please go to <a href=\"https:\/\/logoscambodia.org\/\">https:\/\/logoscambodia.org\/<\/a>.
